Description
English: Rugby league match between a British Commonwealth Occupation Force (BCOF) team of Australian soldiers and crew members of HMS Shropshire. The match is being played on cleared ground amongst the ruined buildings of Hiroshima. The Australian halfback (far right) is NX205476 Corporal Reginald (Reg) Henry Fort. In the background (centre) are the remains of the Hiroshima-Ken Shorei Kan (Prefectural Industry Promotion Building), also known as the Industrial Hall and the Chamber of Commerce, which was severely damaged by the dropping of the atomic bomb on 6 August 1945. The building has been preserved intact as a peace monument, and is known as the Atomic Bomb Dome or the A-bomb Dome.
