7. Oldtimertreffen am 07.07.2012 in Greußen - Ausfahrt zahlreicher Teilnehmer nach Bad Tennstedt, hier ein Opel Olympia von 1950.

Der Opel Olympia war das erste in Großserie produzierte deutsche Auto mit selbsttragender, ganz aus Stahlblech gebauter Karosserie. Als Nachfolger des Opel 1,3 Liter, der noch bis Oktober 1935 im Opel-Programm blieb, erhielt er seinen Namen in Anlehnung an die 1936 stattfindenden Olympischen Spiele in Berlin und Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Der Olympia wurde im Februar 1935 auf der Internationalen Automobilausstellung in Berlin vorgestellt.

Nach dem Ende des 2. Weltkriegs wurde ab Dezember 1947 die Produktion eines überarbeiteten Olympia-Modells wieder aufgenommen. Das Auto wurde u. a. ohne die Opel-Synchronfederung mit der Vorderachse des Vorkriegs-Kapitäns versehen. Bei dem 1950er Modell gab es mit einer modernisierten Karosserie auch einen Liefer- bzw. Kastenwagen, der von Karosseriebauern wie Autenrieth, Miesen, Rappold, Dello u. a. zum Kombi umgebaut werden konnte.

The Opel Olympia is a small family car produced by the German automaker Opel from 1935 to 1940, from 1947 to 1953 and again from 1967 to 1970. In January 1950, the Olympia got a modernized body. But the car was still based on the pre-war Olympia. In three years of production, about 160.000 cars were made.
