| Description |
English: Down Parcels from Paddington approaching Old Oak Common East Junction. View eastward, towards Paddington: ex-GWR main line from Paddington. The train is on The Down Fast line, behind it an Up empty stock train for Paddington, rising up to run over the flyover just visible on the right. Behind is the large Kensal Green Cemetery and Gasworks. The locomotive is No. 6959 'Peatling Hall', the first of Hawksworth's 'Modified Hall' 4-6-0s (built 3/44, named 6/47, withdrawn 12/65). In more recent years the North Pole Depot for Eurostar trains has been situated on the near side, stretching under the Mitre Bridge from which the photograph was taken. |
