Summary
[edit]DescriptionNorth Park Lutheran Church, Buffalo, New York - 20200512.jpg |
English: North Park Lutheran Church, 310 Starin Avenue at Wingate Avenue, Buffalo, New York, May 2020. Founded in 1922, the congregation laid the cornerstone for the present house of worship in June 1925 and began worshipping there the following November. Designed in a simplified Gothic Revival style by architect Charles Obenhack, the current building was originally intended to serve merely as a chapel; after its completion, plans were immediately hatched for a much larger main church building that would have been located immediately to the south of the present building (at left according to the perspective of this photo), but the growth of the congregation was much slower than predicted, and the expansion was never necessary. North Park Lutheran closed in October of 2021, and the building now serves as home to the Anchor Church, a Wesleyan congregation. |
