De schutsluis in Veurne kan functioneren als een stuw in beide richtingen. Aan elke kant is er een dubbel stel deuren. Eén stel sluit op een punt richting Nieuwpoort. Het tweede stel sluit op een punt richting Duinkerken.
The lock called "Nieuwpoortsluis" can eventually function as a barrage in both directions. Each side has a double pair of doors closing at a point, the first one in the direction of Nieuwpoort, the second one in the direction of Dunkirk.
