Description
Português: A Estação Ecológica Juréia - Itatins , área representativa de diversos ecossistemas destinada à realização de pesquisas científicas, proteção ambiental e educação ambiental. Abriga cerca de 80.000 ha de Mata Atlântica e ecossistemas associados, tais como :restingas, manguezais, banhados, praias e costões rochosos, reunindo uma fauna rica e diversificada com vários espécies ameaçadas de extinção, tais como tucanos, antas, onça pintada, macaco mono -carvoeiro, papagaio chauá e jacutingas.

É parte importante da Reserva da Biosfera Mundial. Tem ainda em seu território parte das Áreas de Proteção Ambiental - APA do Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar, APA Cananéia-Iguape-Peruibe e Área de reserva e Interesse ecológico das ilhas da Queimada Grande e Queimada Pequena.

Está localizada ao Sul do litoral Paulista e abrange parte dos municípios de Iguape, Peruibe, Itariri e Miracatu, confrontando-se ainda com o Pedro de Toledo. Neste meio, convive com a natureza uma população tradicional caiçara.
