Summary
[edit]DescriptionMedina House, Kings Esplanade, Hove (September 2013) (1).JPG |
Medina House, Kings Esplanade, Hove, City of Brighton and Hove, England. A Turkish bath and slipper bath which was built in 1893–94 and opened on 13 September 1894. The "curious, whimsical" building has (as of 2015) suffered two fires and been the subject of nine planning applications to demolish it. The building seems to polarise opinion locally, with many people determined to save it and many others keen to see the site redeveloped. This picture dates from September 2013, between the two fires. The building has "locally listed" status and was retained on Brighton and Hove's Draft Local List of Heritage Assets in March 2015 when the whole list was reassessed. See here for the heritage assessment. |
