Description
English: Masanori Matsugawa, the mayor of Ginowan, Okinawa, gives opening remarks before the signing of a Local Implementing Agreement on Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 7, 2022. The LIA for limited disaster preparedness allows evacuees a quick and direct passage to higher ground or shelter on participating Marine Corps bases immediately before, during or following a natural disaster. The signing signifies a critical step to safeguard the citizens of local communities and reaffirms the commitment of the U.S. to assist Japan in the event of a natural disaster.
