Field Trip - Home Wood nr Upper Caldecote - Bedfordshire - 28/07/16

I made a trip back up to Bedfordshire to join Matt and Lionel Burgess for my second trapping session at Home Wood just down the road from Upper Caldecote and Matt's residence. It did not seem like two years since we all met up previously and I must make the effort to make this an annual treat to sample slightly different moths to what I am usually use to. (Mere Wainscot springs instantly to mind). As we all finished setting up, I was glad that I had put black sacks over all of the electrical points and sheltered the generator as it absolutely HAMMERED it down! I knew that sky was looking a little angry but this wasn't forecast at all and we had to shelter from the deluge in our vehicles...all except Matt's son who got drenched insisting on 'netting' anything that turned up to the sheet (that's the spirit lad!) Matt arrived a little later to take is son home and commented on how dry the road was towards the wood...DRY!? We were flipping soaked. The Wine Race was again won by Matt with an incredible lead once again and a bottle of bubbly was duly presented as we pondered how the night might pan out now that it had stopped raining after a good 20 minute downpour. It was pretty slow to start with and didn't really get going but there was enough to keep us interested and we trapped until about 2AM. The list is below and did not feature any 'Ground-breaking' species but it was nice all the same to catch up and have a laugh.

Lionel and Matt, please let me know of any corrections or alterations and I will amend the list.
