Omschrijving: Nachtwachtuitbouw vanuit het noordwesten. De luiken, waarvoor de lamellen hangen, zorgen voor de afscherming van het zuidwestelijke zijlicht van de Nachtwacht. Na talloze vruchteloze pogingen de verlichting van de Nachtwacht te verbeteren is besloten voor het schilderij een nieuwe zaal te bouwen. Op 16 juli 1906 wordt de Nachtwachtaanbouw geopend. Het licht valt door een hoog, deels afgeschermd, venster aan de zuidzijde naar binnen. Tot 1926 hing de Nachtwacht in deze aanbouw.
