Description
English: Extract from the 1897 article "Local Option" published in the now defunct Sydney newspaper The Evening News. The article describes the Local Option League of New South Wales' request that the Minister for Lands move an amendment to the proposed Federal Constitution which would permit States to regulate imported alcohol. (The amendment was eventually accepted as Section 113 of the Constitution of Australia.)
