Lithotomy was a procedure where a stone in the bladder or urethra was removed by means of surgery. This thirty-piece instrument set contained all the necessary instruments to carry out the operation, including four gorgets, specialised knives used in lithotomy, and six lithotomy staffs, which are grooved to guide the gorget towards the stone.
