Summary
[edit]DescriptionKnob geese (Anser cygnoides forma domestica) - geograph.org.uk - 1520376.jpg |
English: Knob geese (Anser cygnoides forma domestica) Knob geese originate from China. Because the body conformation and meat yield of the breed is not as good as that of others, it has not been widely used for meat production. This small flock populates the River Yare by the Reedham Ferry crossing.
The majority of domestic geese are descended from the Greylag goose (Anser anser). There are two breeds of domestic geese which are direct descendants of the Swan Goose*: the Chinese goose (also known as Knob goose) and the African goose. Both vary considerably from their wild parent.
