Summary
[edit]DescriptionJohdpur ni19-21.jpg |
English: Jodhpur, Rajasthan
This dramatic view displays the "Blue City" of Jodhpur, as seen from the heights of Meherangarh Fort. There are several stories about the color applied to these houses. One is that it was used to mark the residences of Brahmins, another is that it helped to cool the houses. Actually the color derives from copper sulphate, which was mixed in with the whitewash to repel termites and other insects. |
