Calvin Coolidge’s announcement he would not choose to run for the 1928 presidential election.

| Description |
English: Though popular, Calvin Coolidge decided not to seek reelection in 1928. On August 2, 1927, Coolidge drove to his office at Rapid City High School in South Dakota and wrote: “I do not choose to run for President in nineteen twenty-eight” on a slip of paper. He then called a press conference and asked his secretary to make several copies of the note to pass around to members of the press, without taking any questions.
