Description
English: This picture, taken by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope’s Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2), shows a galaxy known as IC 4970 in the constellation of Pavo (The Peacock). This small lenticular galaxy is interacting with the giant spiral galaxy NGC 6872, causing the spiral arms of NGC 6872 to bloom with new star formation. Both galaxies lie around 212 million light-years from Earth.
