Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Drawing show the mechanism behind generation of current and voltage in a homopolar generator. As the contacts move around the axis and disk perimeter the tardiness of electrons flowing from the axis to the perimeter of the disk (or vise verse) results in the electrical circuit taking a slightly curved path resulting in an opening in the circuit which is slightly open due to the tilted plane of the circuit which allows the magnetic flux to pass through and cause voltage and current to be produced. Mechanical energy required to move the contacts around the axis and the perimeter of the disk is thereby converted to electrical energy.
