Description

Haringey still offering a distinctive welcome to visitors.

I took some photos of overflowing waste bins at the same location on 24 November 2013. Then went back on 15 December, hoping for some improvement. But as you can see, it was twice as bad.

Below is my email to Haringey's Environment Department and their reply.

Dear Councillor Stanton.

Thank you for your email.   The area Neighbourhood Action Officer (NAO) for Seven Sisters Ward is aware of the issue you have raised and has been carrying out investigations to ascertain were the waste may be emanating from. There are a number lines of investigation currently being undertaken. The refuse bins that belong to 143 and 155 High road are stored on the public highway at this location and might be attracting dumping. The NAO is discussing with Veolia alternative arrangements for storage and collection of waste from this location.   The NAO has also noted that the front door to 143 High Road is always open and on each visit to date no one has responded. [...] His enquiries to ascertain the owner and occupants are continuing, along with liaison with other departments on possible actions to remedy the dumping issue.

Team Leader, Single Frontline, Neighbourhood Services Neighbourhood Action Team
