Description
Deutsch: In der 6,3 km langen Speicherringanlage HERA wurden Protonen und Elektronen beschleunigt. Das Experiment HERMES nutzte ausschließlich den Elektronenstrahl. Mit Hilfe von HERMES untersuchten die Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler den "Spin" (den Eigendrehimpuls) des Protons. Das Schema zeigt den inneren Aufbau der HERMES-Detektors.
English: The 6,3-kilometre-long storage ring facility HERA was used to accelerate protons and electrons. The HERMES experiment used only the electron beam. With the help of HERMES, scientists investigated the "spin" (the intrinsic angular momentum) of the proton. The diagram shows the inner structure of the HERMES detector.
