Summary
[edit]DescriptionGlacial meltwater channel below Deuchrie Dod - geograph.org.uk - 1603099.jpg |
English: Glacial meltwater channel below Deuchrie Dod This valley, Rammer Cleugh, is one of several trending roughly E-W on the northern side of the Lammermuir Hills, that are thought to have been formed by meltwater drainage underneath or at the margins of a great glacier that occupied what is now the Firth of Forth. The valleys are striking in the way they cut across the landscape and yet contain no significant streams or rivers.
This is a particularly good example of a landscape modified while it was beneath the ice. For more background including a map of the meltwater channels, please see http://www.fettes.com/lothian/Rammer%20Cleugh.htm |
