Description
English: Gilbert M. Grosvenor, future editor of National Geographic, poses on a meteorite in a photo that appeared in the magazine in 1939. At the time, Grosvenor’s grandfather was National Geographic’s editor and his father was on staff. From the day in 1899 when Grosvenor’s grandfather became the first full-time employee of the National Geographic Society, the three generations of Grosvenors led National Geographic for almost a century.
