Quelle: Aus der Falttradition am Wiener Hof Diese Serviette wurde aus einem Original-Damast-Stoff aus dem österreichischen kaiserlichen Hof aus dem Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts gefaltet. PADORE Gesellschaft für Dokumentation und Erforschung des Papierfaltens hat dieses Objekt zur Verfügung gestellt. Serviettenmodelle, die die Liliengrundform gemeinsam haben, gehören zur Lilienfaltfamilie. Diese Form geht auf die bildhafte Benennung der Stadt Florenz als "città del giglio" (Stadt der Lilie) zurück. Es ist nicht auszuschliessen, dass ehemals auch Servietten, als Lilien gefaltet, diese Stadt symbolisierten. Dies würde die Vermutung bekräftigen, dass die Kunst, Servietten künstlerisch zu falten, ihren Ursprung in den grossen Banketten der Medici in Florenz hat. Aus dem Faltmuster der Liliengrundform entwickelten sich über die Jahrhunderte verschiedene Varianten. Abgesehen von der Grundform besteht ein Hauptmerkmal dieser Familie in der zierlichen, kegelförmig gerollten Spitze am Ende der Faltung. Im Vergleich zu anderen Serviettenfaltfamilien scheint die Zahl der erhaltenen Varianten hier relativ klein zu sein. Einige Modelle wurden schriftlich überliefert, andere haben in der mündlichen Falttradition überlebt, wie die "Kaiserfaltung" am Hof der Habsburger in Wien. |
