Astronomy is of course at its most beautiful when you are working with one of the largest telescopes in the world. The stars that are so infinitely far away then feel very close for a moment. But daily work of Annelotte Derkink (PhD student Astronomy University of Amsterdam) mainly takes place behind her computer screen in Amsterdam. A bit less romantic but very interesting. Here she studies observations from the large telescope in Chile to better understand what happens when massive stars are formed. Those massive stars determine the evolution of our universe.
