pe. One type of motor car, weighing 63tons, has two-axle trucks and a double equipment of225-hp. motors. Another type, weighing 72 tons, has aquadruple equipment of 165-hp. motors, two of themotors being mounted on each three-axle truck. Thisroad also has ten 800-hp. gearless locomotives with anearly form of quill drive. As in England, there is a tendency to the use of thethree-car unit (one motor car and two trailers) forsuburban service. It is planned rapidly to extend themultiple-unit electric service around Paris, and adefinite program of main line electrification also hasbeen started.
