English: Lt. Col. Charles Armstrong (left), outgoing commander of the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, stands with his wife Kelly in front of a large TV screen and video camera here at the 2nd BCT’s headquarters Feb., 22. They are conducting a video teleconference with the brigade’s command group who are currently deployed to Afghanistan. The VTC took place right before the change of command ceremony later in the morning. The ceremony is one of time-honored tradition, in which Lt. Col. Armstrong relinquished his command, and where in Lt. Col. Kuester assumed command of the battalion. During the VTC Kelly Armstrong was awarded a token of appreciation for all the help she gave the battalion and their Families while the Soldiers were recently deployed. “I am beyond humbled by the strength of our families. If soldiers are tough and strong, then our family members have to be that much stronger because when we have moments of weakness that is who we lean on,” said Lt. Col. Armstrong.
