Title |
clothes;hook;fastener |
||
Description |
English: Cast copper alloy clothes hook fastener with knotted rope design. The 'rope' is twisted into an asymmetrical quatrefoil openwork, creating three tear-shaped loops, and one semi-circular loop, below a cross bar, which would have allowed the fastener to have been attached onto the garment. At either end of the cross bar, between the bar and the end of each strand of rope, there is a moulded boss in the form of a rosette with five petals. Read (1988) illustrates a similar example on page 118, No.759, which he dates to the 15th-17th century. |
