English: Theapluck on the tea-plantation Simelungung, East-Sumatra.
Nederlands: Repronegatief. Naast de grote cultures van het Cultuurgebied, de tabak en de rubber, waren er ook een aantal kleinere. Daartoe behoorde de thee, een product dat gewoonlijk met Java wordt geassocieerd. Dat was terecht, want bijvoorbeeld rond 1925 produceerde Java bijna zes keer zo veel thee als Sumatra. Thee werd in het Gouvernement Sumatra's Oostkust vooral verbouwd in de afdeling Simeloengoen. Het theegebied bij uitstek op Sumatra bevond zich echter in de Padangse Bovenlanden van de Residentie Sumatra's Westkust. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
