English: On May 16th 2017, NeuroMat hosted the conference "Mathematical Culture in Brazil: Diagnosis and Perspectives", in which several professors and researchers discussed issues pertaining to the current situation of numeracy in Brazil. Manoel Orisvaldo de Moura is a former professor of the Faculty of Education of the University of São Paulo and researcher on mathematics teaching. Martha Marandino is an associate professor of the Faculty of Education of the University of São Paulo and researcher on biology teaching, nonformal education, education in museums and popular science. Hilário Alencar da Silva is a professor of the Institute of Mathematics of the Federal University of Alagoas and one of the developers of the Brazilian Professional Master's Degree in Mathematics (PROFMAT).
