| Description |
English: Boyes Lane Showfield, Keyingham, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Former sand and gravel pit off the west side of Boyes Lane, Keyingham, landscaped into a showground by Holderness Aggregates Ltd for the Holderness Vintage Machinery Club. The gravel pit was dug at the beginning of the 19th century to provide materials for road improvements in the village in preparation for inclosure. Boyes Lane was marked out at this time and originally called Gravel Pit Road. The gravel pit was eventually filled in with rubble from buildings in Hull destroyed by bombing in World War 2. The showground is pictured during the Holderness Vintage Machinery Club's annual working weekend and rally. The club was formed in 2002 and holds a show here every year, except for last year when it was cancelled because of the floods. |
