[edit]DescriptionBoston Logan Airport Snow Blowers (5658141911).jpg |
A snow blower does its work at Boston Logan International Airport. Snow crews at three Commonwealth airports in Boston, Bedford, and Mansfield are being recognized for keeping air travel disruptions to the absolute minimum. The Balchen/Post Awards are named for pioneering aviators Wiley Post and Col. Bernt Balchen and given each year to airports whose “snow crews” did exemplary work in maintaining their airports in safe and operational conditions during the winter season. The 2010-2011 awards included: Boston Logan International Airport- Winner, Large Commercial category Mansfield Municipal Airport- Winner, Small General Aviation category L.G. Hanscom Field, Bedford- Honorable Mention, Large General Aviation category Logan and Hanscom are operated by the Massachusetts Port Authority. This is Logan's 3rd award in the past six years, this year sharing the award with LaGuardia Airport. Chicago O'Hare received honorable mention. Last winter, Logan’s snow crews battled more than 80 inches of snow with recent innovations including flush taxiway edge lights which allow crews to plow to the edge of the pavement without the buildup of large windows, and laptop computers in Airport Operations vehicles to provide real-time field condition reporting and access storm tracking radar data on the airfield |

Definition of "public record"
Public records are defined in A Guide to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, Published by William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Division of Public Records, (Updated January 2017) at https://www.mass.gov/files/2017-06/Public%20Records%20Law.pdf on page 40, under M. G. L. c. 4, § 7(26) as:
Limitations of template usage
This is consistent with the statement at http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ARC/arcres/residx.htm:
Note: Works that are considered "public records" but were not created by a state or municipal government agency may be copyrighted by their author; the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution prevents state law from overriding the author's right to copyright protection that is granted by federal law. For example, a state agency may post images online of the final appearance of a building under construction; while the images may be "public records", their creator (eg. architecture/construction firm) retains copyright rights to the image unless the contract with the agency says otherwise. See: Government-in-the-Sunshine Manual: To what extent does federal law preempt state law regarding public inspection of records?. |
