Summary
[edit]DescriptionBoscombe Chine - geograph.org.uk - 1428201.jpg |
English: Boscombe Chine The southern end of Boscombe Chine, seen from the bottom of Sea Road. One of ten or so chines in Poole Bay; chine is a local name for a steep-sided previous river valley. There are also chines in Devon, Hampshire (where the term bunny is also used), and the Isle of Wight. Boscombe Chine was developed by Sir Henry Drummond Wolf from 1868-71, as pleasure gardens; the site was refurbished in 2003-7, and holds a Green Flag Award. The northern end has pleasure gardens, and the southern has recently been awarded the status of Local Nature Reserve. http://www.bournemouth.gov.uk/Visitors/Parks_Gardens_Countryside/boscombe_gardens/Green_Flag_Award_Application_2006.asp |
