This 16mm sound equipped film projector was making very loud noises and not rewinding. I was trying to repair it, and found that the worm screw (visible below wheel at top center, to right of speaker) was cracked and hitting the sprocket drive gears as it was turning around. To repair, I ground the broken ends of the worm screw threads to a taper with a dremel tool to enable a smoothe transition and moved the screw forward on the shaft a bit by loosening the spline setscrews, re positioning, and tightening the setscrews again. Now the projector is much quieter, but some noise from the film advance mechanism still escapes the housing during operation.
