Bantry Courthouse Plaque

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Bantry Courthouse Plaque Plaques in Irish and English adorn the exterior wall of the Courthouse building in Bantry commemorate local men of the Irish Republican Army who lost their lives in various actions throughout West Cork during 1920 - 1923. During the Civil War of 1922 - 23, four men (Gibbs Ross, Patrick Cooney, Michael Crowley, and Donal McCarthy) died the same day on 30 August 1922 at Bantry, a reference to one day during a three week period in August 1922, in which the town was besieged and intermittently attacked by Anti-Treaty forces.
