English: The temple of Bakreshwar or Bakreshwari Mahadev is situated at an altitude of 1428 meters, about 2 km north of Manakamana temple which is very famous in Gorkha district. This temple can be reached from Manakamana by walking uphill for about 2 or 3 hours. In this temple, there is a large elongated stone in the form of Bakreshwar Mahadev and Bakrashwari Devi. It is believed that Baba Gorakhnath gave a gift to Lakhan Thapa at this place. On the eighth day of Bijaya Dashami, the great festival of Nepalis, it is customary to take the pooja from Manakamana by playing the nagara and carrying the ranga bali. According to popular belief, worshiping Bakrashwari Mai means that children can speak even if they cannot speak clearly. Devotees throng this temple on the great festival of Hindu Nepali women. This place is full of natural resources and is very beautiful. After walking for about 2 hours from this temple, you can reach Lakhan Thapa Cave. |
