Description
Afrikaans: Op 10 Augustus 2017 ry 'n man deur Grahamstad se Makana-stortingsterrein agterop 'n munisipale stortingsvragmotor. Die man wat nie sy naam genoem wil hê nie, woon by die stortingsterrein in 'n tydelike hut. Hy kan dit nie bekostig om in die nabygeleë dorp te woon nie, aangesien hy nie werk kan kry nie – Grahamstad het 'n gerapporteerde 70 tot 80% werkloosheidsyfer. Hy dra ou skoolklere omdat hy nie nuwe klere kan bekostig nie, en moet staatmaak op dit wat hy in die stortingsterrein vind. English: A man rides through the Makana Dump on the back of a municipal dump truck in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa, August 10, 2017. This man, who wishes not to be named, lives at the dumpsite in a makeshift shack; he cannot afford to live in the nearby town as he cannot find a job – Grahamstown has a reported 70 - 80% unemployment rate. He’s wearing old school clothes because he can’t afford new clothes, and must rely on what he finds in the dump.
