Towboat "Richard E. Hodges" upbound at head of Portland Canal, passing the upper tip of Shippingport Island. Conrail (later L&I) Bridge in left distance. [Another name for this bridge which remains constant despite changes in ownership is the Fourteenth Street Bridge.] In foreground are shipping containers at Kentucky Container Service. As of 2016, this area is being considered for development into Waterfront Park Phase IV. . Twin-screw towboat "Richard E. Hodges" (doc. # 584006 / length 140 feet / breadth 42 feet / GM 16-645E7B diesels, 6000 hp. / Falk reduction drives with ratio of 4.345:1 / Kort nozzles). Built 1977 by Dravo Corp., Neville Island, PA. Originally "Richard E. Hodges", operated by Indiana Michigan Power Co., Lakin, WV. Sold 9/1987 to American Commercial Lines LLC, Jeffersonville, IN Renamed 12/1990 "Tom Behringer". . Ohio River mile 605 Louisville, Kentucky Feb. 1988. file # 88b211.
