Blazon

On a disc Azure, surmounting a polestar of eight points Or, crossed swords Argent, grip Sable, above chain links fesswise environing the swords at the intersection Gris, all within a narrow border Black.

Attached below the disc, a Red scroll edged with a narrow Black border and inscribed "866 AIR EXPEDITIONARY SQUADRON" in Black letters.

Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The swords represent the ground battle in the effort to abolish terrorism. The chain signifies the strength to bind the accomplishments together. The North Star is the unit’s guiding light.
