[edit]Description2022-09-18 FA-50 Escort 001.jpg |
English: Two FA-50 Fighter Jets of the Philippine Air Force escorted President Bong Bong Marcos' Flight as it left the Country on September 18, 2022, for an Official Visit to New York to participate in the 77th United Nations General Assembly. The Fighter Jets escorted the Presidential Flight in the Country's Eastern Front starting over Polilio Island all the way up to 200 nautical miles. Fighter escorting, more than just a tradition, is an essential standard operating procedure to clear and secure our Air Space for the arrival and departure of the President of the Republic and other visiting Heads of State. The said Procedure is similarly practiced in other Countries for added security of their Presidential Flights.
After escorting the Presidential Flight which lasted for a few minutes, the two FA-50s continued on with the conduct of regular Maritime Patrol to secure the Country from unauthorized intrusions within our Philippine Air Defense Identification Zone (PADIZ). Maritime Patrols are also done by our Fighter Jets to monitor developments and illegal activities within our Exclusive Economic Zone. |
