| Description | Every year since 1970 a tree is selected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) U. S. Forest Service from a National Forest to be the Capitol Christmas Tree in Washington D.C. This year a 75 year old, 73 foot Engelman Spruce from the White River National Forest, Blanco Ranger District, Meeker, Colorado has the honor of providing the People’s Tree. Forest Supervisor of the White River National Forest Scott Fitzwilliams said, "We're honored, we think we can bring a great message to the capitol and the nation about Colorado, the National Forest and conservation."The Capitol Christmas Tree was delivered to the U. S. Capitol, Monday Nov. 26, 2012. |
