Description

The Eunos brand was launched in Australia in 1993 as Mazda's luxury brand in the same way Toyota has Lexus, Nissan has Infiniti and Honda has Acura, but was withdrawn in 1999 due to low sales.

Three cars made up their lineup, the Eunos 30-X (Mazda MX-3), Eunos 500 (Mazda 626 based) and the Eunos 800 (Mazda Millenia).

By the end of their time on the Australian market, the 500 was withdrawn completely and the Eunos 30-X and Eunos 800 would later be rebadged as a Mazda-Eunos to clear old stock.

The Eunos 800 stayed on, where it was rebranded as the Mazda Millenia.

The Lexus brand, while hasn't been as successful in Australia as the big 3 Germans, continues to plug away at our market. Nissan has relaunched the Infiniti brand in Australia again after a short lived stint in 1991 until 1993, with the Q45, but as yet, sales have been very low. Honda has never nor will ever, launch it's luxury brand, Acura, in Australia.
