Description

木場町 

旧町名継承碑
『木場町』
　当時は明治初頭、西成郡の野田村及び西野新田の各一部であった。
明治三〇年四月大阪市に編入され、北区西成野田・西区川本大字西野となり、
同三三年四月北区西成野田は西野田新家東之町・西野田新家西之町・の各一部に、
西区川北大字西野は西野上之町の一部となった。
大正一一年一〇月北区西野田新家東之町・西野田新家西之町は
西野田新家町一～二丁目となった。
同一四年四月行政区画の変更にともない各町は此花区に編入され、
西野田新家町一～二丁目は新家町一～二丁目となった。
昭和一八年四月行政区画の変更にともない木場川運河中心線以西・同以南の
新家町一～二丁目の全域と西野上之町の一部となり、
同一九年四月各町をもって木場町となった。
同五〇年九月住居表示の実施にともない木場町は西九条三・五丁目の一部となった。
　町名は、木場川左岸沿いに町域を有することに由来する。
