ไทย: พระราชวังบางปะอิน ตั้งอยู่ในตำบลบ้านเลน อำเภอบางปะอิน จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา อยู่ห่างจากเกาะเมืองลงมาทางทิศใต้ประมาณ 18 กิโลเมตร[1] เป็นพระราชวังโบราณตั้งแต่สมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยา สร้างขึ้นโดยสมเด็จพระเจ้าปราสาททอง เนื่องจากเป็นที่ประสูติของพระองค์ ใช้เป็นสถานที่ที่ทรงใช้ประทับแรม ของพระมหากษัตริย์แห่งกรุงศรีอยุธยา ด้วยเป็นพระราชวังใกล้พระนครนั่นเอง
หลังจากการเสียกรุงศรีอยุธยาครั้งที่สอง พระราชวังบางปะอินถูกปล่อยให้รกร้างมาระยะหนึ่ง แต่กลับมาเป็นที่รู้จักอีกครั้งโดยสุนทรภู่ซึ่งได้ตามเสด็จพระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธยอดฟ้าจุฬาโลกมหาราชไปนมัสการพระพุทธบาทสระบุรีได้ประพันธ์ถึงพระราชวังบางปะอินไว้ในนิราศพระบาท จนกระทั่ง ในรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว จึงได้เริ่มการบูรณะพระราชวังขึ้น และในรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวได้บูรณะครั้งใหญ่ โดยสร้างพระที่นั่ง พระตำหนัก และตำหนักต่าง ๆ ขึ้นมากมายเพื่อใช้เป็นที่ประทับรับรองพระราชอาคันตุกะ และพระราชทานเลี้ยงในโอกาสต่าง ๆ |
