Commons talk:Creator
Looks good
[edit]- This regulation looks good. Teofilo (talk) 21:16, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- I like it too. I suggest changing the following: Name of the creator page should ideally match name of the categories on commons and name of article in English wikipedia. to read something like this: Name of the creator page should ideally match name of the categories on commons and name of article in English wikipedia, or, absent such an article, the most applicable wikipedia article in another language. The reason is, Commons has images of works by artists and architects for whom there are no English wikipedia articles, for example: File:Max Fleischer 001.jpg is by de:Max Fleischer (Architekt) and File:COLLECTIE TROPENMUSEUM Javaanse danseressen TMnr 3204-367.jpg is by Max Fleischer the painter (1841 to 1930). The English wikipedia only has an article on a third Max Fleischer (the animator). -84user (talk) 22:07, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
- I expanded naming section, encouraging to follow our category naming guidelines and en wikipedia article naming guidelines. I do not think we should follow other wikipedia's conventions since some of them use very different conventions (different alphabets, last name first convention, different transliterations etc. ). --Jarekt (talk) 14:53, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Persondata template
[edit]Commons:Creator#Clear No contained the following guidance:
- "Please use the similar {{Persondata}} template to add an infobox directly to a category or gallery."
I have deleted the sentence since the Template:Persondata contained only the transcluded documentation after the template was blanked in June 2012.

- Thanks, I had totally forgotten about that. --Zolo (talk) 14:03, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
Dress designers
[edit]Can the Creator template be used for dress designers/fashion designers? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 08:33, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
- I think it can, as long as the dress creator is notable enough. --Zolo (talk) 09:07, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 10:45, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
Two authors
[edit]How to add two authors (or more?) to the description of a single image? I added two authors like this: https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File%3AAmphidromus_similis_shell.png&type=revision&diff=211390705&oldid=63010596
| Author = {{Creator:Frank Fortescue Laidlaw}} {{Creator:Alan Solem}}
Is it proper way or is it possible to do it better? --Snek01 (talk) 21:30, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
- Snek01, your approach seems fine. If two authors had distinctive roles than it is good to list them, but otherwise that is the way I usually do it. See for example File:Fotothek df roe-neg 0000067 002 Trümmerfrau bei Aufräumarbeiten.jpg--Jarekt (talk) 02:43, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
Own pictures
[edit]Is it fair to say that if I take a picture to illustrate something for Commons then I don't automatically qualify for my own creator entry. If this is the case could some suitable guidance be added to the page please.Railwayfan2005 (talk) 18:15, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
