Wiki Loves Monuments (WLM) is an annual international photographic competition held during the month of September, organised worldwide by Wikimedia chapters, groups and local Wikipedia volunteers. The public takes photos of monuments, upload those to Wikimedia Commons, and then they can be used in Wikipedia and elsewhere. According to the Guinness Book of Records, the 2011 edition of the Wiki Loves Monuments broke the world record for the largest photography competition. In 2013, the Wiki Loves Monuments competition was held across six continents including Antarctica and had official participation from more than fifty countries around the world.

There are a lot of historic monuments in all participating countries. The goal of Wiki Loves Monuments is to encourage people to take pictures of those monuments, and to put them under a free licence so that others may access them through the Internet. This year Nigeria is participating this competition and this page introduces the Nigeria part of this competition. The local competition is supported by Wikimedia Nigeria Foundation and organized locally by members of Wikimedia Nigeria Foundation.
