Support - This music has a very simple effect, and at times, it felt to me like it was doing very little at length, but ultimately, it's kind of beautiful, and certainly beautifully performed. Comment - I would support featuring both recordings, but I question their being a set, as the recording of Caruso was done by a different company 6 years later and has way better sound. Oppose given that mp3 uploads are possible now at Commons (if only for a select few) I think we should not feature a file that was converted from one lossy (mp3) format to another (ogg). Whether the 128kbps mp3 file from navyband.navy.mil could be featured is a separate question. @Ikan Kekek: Here's the complete set of all CC videos by NEFFEX . They didn't uploaded any music for a very long time (5 months), but I'm not sure, from what I understood they are on an European tour. But they will continue uploading more music, but I'm not sure if these new ones will be CC licensed. Question other than it being a rare exception of CC-licensed music, what is the rationale for them to be featured? I mean, they're technically well done, but afaict none of them is a masterpiece. They strike me as rather plastic-y products designed to suit the masses but failing to stand out among the flood of similar stuff that's out there on the web in a very 500px kind of way. ^re IMHO these are featurable, featured content on commons are relative to other files we have on commons not the whole internet. If we compare our files with files produced by big organizations that's not fair. These are okay-ish music video (when compared with the music on iTunes ) but if we compare these with what we have on commons they are featurable. Leaning oppose on this one. This nomination does kind of leave me with questions about this process. My first question is why are videos nominated as audio? If the audio is what's featurable, we should really extract the audio in a separate file. We use audio and video very differently across Wikimedia projects, and do have separate processes for each now. My other question is about the role of "educational value" -- as far as I can tell, this band doesn't even have a Wikipedia page. Does that mean any band could promote themselves by uploading to Commons and getting them featured? I mean, the uploading part is unavoidable (and not necessarily a bad thing), but I feel like it's a hard sell to say that all of these have a high educational value. — Rhododendrites ^talk | 02:37, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
