[edit]

I nominated three of this user's uploads for speedy deletion as clear copyright violations (File:54 Conestoga Custom.jpg, File:Studebaker Conestoga Custom Station Wagon.jpg, and File:1990 Red C4 Corvette Side.jpg). The remainder are all questionable as a result. The three copyright violations were obviously photos taken of a computer screen. Three of the Corvette images appear to be the same situation; looking closely, the screen's pixels are visible and therefore these images are also likely copyright violations. In one, the mouse cursor is even visible. The remaining one ("Front") has logos on it suggesting that it is Chevrolet advertising material, and the reflection in the upper left corner indicates that this is a picture taken of a glossy picture, poster, or brochure. The Grand Am image is of very low resolution despite the large image size. I was unable to find another source for the image to confirm a copyright violation, but in any case the image is of such low quality that it is not usable for any encyclopedic purpose. The remaining two images of the Eldorado do not have any clear signs of anything being amiss. However, given that this user's other eight uploads are confirmed or possible copyright violations, these should be deleted as well to be safe. --Sable232 (talk) 17:00, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not one of these is a copyright violation. Yes some are pictures from my computer. They are pictures of my own pictures. When I attempted to load the original ones I was unable to do so. I took an alternative route of using my phone and taking a picture from my computer. I will ask SABLE323 if he found proof of copyright violation on any of the pictures> The answer will be no. I solely own all the rights to all the pictures i used. The picture of the Studebaker in front of the cabin is also on the STATION WAGON FORUM. It is there because I put it there in 2007. I have never given up rights to that picture. SABLE323 has done no research to verify his false accusations he merely took it upon himself to track me and delete all of my pictures. He has ruined my first experience at this. He only had to use the talk feature to engage me in a conversation and explanation. NickWilson1964 11:36 pm 08/28/2021
The one of my Red 1990 C4 Corvette is a photoshop of an existing picture of my car taken by me and I own all rights to it. I added the vintage Chevrolet logo after legally obtaining them from the GM download. Again SABLE323 makes a lot of assumptions with out actually talking to me. NickWilson1964

As a brand new user who was only trying to ad examples to existing content it would have been nice if SABLE323 had reached out to me via "talk" and voiced his concerns. Instead he has chosen to post several Libelous comments about me being a copyright violator. As a former professional photographer my reputation could be seriously damaged by these unfounded and false statements. As one can plainly see all but the picture of my 1954 Conestoga were taken in the same location. NickWilson1964.

Sable323 did nothing to verify his false accusations and only assumed he was correct. By doing so he has possible harmed my reputation as a photographer. He further damages my reputation by Claiming the picture of the Corvette "front" is actually advertising material used by GM. As explained the image was a photo shop creation using legally down loaded vintage logos from GM. He being SABLE323 did nothing to verify his false accusations. This is not a good way to welcome new members. NickWilson1964.
How exactly is one supposed to prove ones identity while uses code names on a public web page??? This all could have been avoided if you would have simply reached out to me before making numerous libelous statements calling me a "copyright violator" NickWilson1964
  •  Keep I think this can be closed now that I've checked out his identity (see User talk:NickWilson1964#How to clear up the copyright issues). -- King of ♥ 06:10, 29 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Keep as well per KOH. The rationale by the uploader as to why they look like a photograph of a photograph in a computer screen is believable, looking at their filter log. Though to be sure (and for the sake of quality as well), it'd be better if the files listed here are overwritten by their originals. The upload filter he tripped in before shouldn't affect that. --pandakekok9 06:25, 29 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Keep except File:1990 Red C4 Corvette Front.jpg, which appears to be a Chevrolet advertisement. If NickWilson1964 took the photo used for the ad, he should upload the original photo. But he'll also need to affirm that he does, in fact, hold the copyright to that photo—that it wasn't taken as part of a "work for hire" job for GM where they own the original photo. •  Comment: Despite the copyright issue having been sorted out, there is still the fact that photos of a computer display aren't of high enough quality to be useful for an encylopedic purpose - especially when cursors, taskbars, and/or browser windows are visible.

If the creator can upload the original images as new versions of these files, I would be glad to withdraw the deletion requests for any replaced ones. --Sable232 (talk) 18:36, 29 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    • I agree. I don't think the photos as-is are particularly good, but there are plenty of "bad but permissible" images on Commons. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Perhaps they could be used as examples of screenshots of photos? Woodroar (talk) 19:07, 29 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Keep per his confirmation as being the original photographer. Of course, it'd be preferable to have the images themselves and not photos of them, but this can be addressed later (and doesn't require deleting the originals). JPxG (talk) 20:34, 29 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

After being given a link to an uploader I was able to upload and replace the copies with the original photos. Thanks everyone for your help.NickWilson1964 (talk) 21:45, 29 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone make a determination on the Pontiac grand Am picture please. Just trying finish cleaning all this upNickWilson1964 (talk) 11:25, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I uploaded a better version of the Grand Am. There are very few examples of the 73 Grand Am available here. A low quality option I would guess is better than none. NickWilson1964 (talk) 11:28, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
