File lacks valid source information (a statement about the eventual copyright information is not the same as providing a source). Also, I am not certain I believe that the author is also the subject, unless he took this picture in a studio with a timer. In order to keep this image on Commons, it needs to indicate who the actual copyright holder is (probably not the subject), and it needs to say where the image came from (is this from a dust jacket? A pamphlet of some kind? A faculty year book? Where?). If these things can be provided, then this nomination for deletion should be recinded. KDS444 (talk) 12:02, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Jeffrey had asked me to upload this image. He did not take the picture but he paid for it to be taken by a photographer and owns the copyright to the image. I've given him instructions on how to email Wikipedia Commons to give this permission. Has he sent an email to you? Lanaelle007 (talk) 06:41, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Lanaelle. I think you are referring to the OTRS ticketing system. It appears that the staff at OTRS has indeed received an email from Mr. Ross, but it was deemed insufficient to confirm the necessary permission for Commons to host the picture. I am not sure what the email said (I am not a member of the OTRS staff) but if he did not explicitly release the rights to the image under a broad Creative Commons license or something similar, his email wouldn't have constituted adequate permission. If you would like, I can send you a link to a specific example of text that Mr. Ross would have to send to OTRS in order for Commons to continue to host the image-- but perhaps you have already located such text yourself by now (?). In any case, as long as Mr. Ross understands the nature of freely licensing his picture on Wikimedia Commons, and as long as he is willing to release the rights under the terms of such a license, I do not think there will be a problem retaining the image... But that will ultimately be for the OTRS staff to determine, not me. Let me know if you have more questions. Am here to help, believe it or not! KDS444 (talk) 10:51, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
