Unlikely own work. – Illegitimate Barrister (talkcontribs), 02:34, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Except if the artist himself was uploading images as a form of self-promotion. Given the explicit naming of the artist and the linking embedded in the text of the image, this seems a likely possibility. Plus, the artist has never lodged any objection to this image use, which, as he is named on the page would be relatively easy to Google. Urselius (talk) 10:00, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The original uploader was a guy named Peltast. However, there's no evidence, at least from what I can see, that he is the original author. Also another upload of his was deleted back in 2011 for the same reason. – Illegitimate Barrister (talkcontribs), 05:47, 5 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
"2006-11-13 19:55 Peltast 1074×789×8 (95701 bytes) Hypaspist by Johnny Shumate For more illustrations email jjjshumate@earthlink.net If illustration is used, please credit my name", (bolding mine). Looks very much like the artist and 'Peltast' are one and the same person. The licensing also claims that it is the uploader's own work. Urselius (talk) 10:02, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There is also another uploaded image by the same artist (Shumate), and it states "This work has been released into the public domain by its author, Peltast at English Wikipedia. This applies worldwide. In some countries this may not be legally possible; if so: Peltast grants anyone the right to use this work for any purpose, without any conditions, unless such conditions are required by law." Looks more and more like the uploads are by the artist and are a form of publicity for his work. Urselius (talk) 10:07, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Kept, the file was uploaded in 2006, before OTRS-system was invented. It is grandfathered old file, where evidence for own work is not so strictly required. Taivo (talk) 11:05, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
