Commons:Deletion requests/File:Autocircumcised.jpg
This image serves no educational purpose. There are no reliable sources that talk about autocircumcision to mean retraction of the foreskin, and no mention of this kind of penis ring to do it. See also the discussion at en:Wikipedia:Reference desk/Science#Is autocircumcision a real thing?. Sjö (talk) 05:01, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
Because I am a member of Yahoo "autocircumcision" group for a long time https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/foreskin_rolled_back/info and very familiar with the subject I totally disagree with Sjö see the discussion at en:Wikipedia:Reference desk/Science#Is autocircumcision a real thing?.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Hstidst (talk • contribs)
- Like I said, there are no reliable sources per Wikipedia standards. A Yahoo group or your personal experience isn't enough. Sjö (talk) 05:14, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
“European Handbook of Dermatological Treatments – Derek Freedman,Balanitis, page97 “ https://books.google.com/books?id=fHi6CAAAQBAJ&pg=PA97
states: “ Retraction of the prepuce dries out the epithelium, enhances keratinisation and resolves most cases of balanitis” and “Advising patients to change their habits of a lifetime and maintain retraction of the foreskin requires considerable persuasion. Most find it uncomfortable and over sensitive initially and it takes about 3-4 weeks for the hypersensitivity to settle downas keratinization occurs. Once this has been achieved, few wish to revert to their previous mode of wearing the foreskin down”
The source above is teaching us: First , that keeping the foreskin retracted can cure the most cases of balanitis. Second, It is possible to train foreskin to stay retracted behind the glance.
To achieve the permanent foreskin retraction. Dr. Freedman mentioned the surgical tape along the shaft of the penis. Image shows glans ring to keep foreskin retracted which is known since 1948 from the patent http://www.google.com/patents/US2538136 which describes the anticircumcision ring to keep the foreskin in retraction condition and it Is very similar to the tapered ring on the image. Verdict – Image supported by very reliable theoretical source and source for the practical implementation.

- You misrepresent the source. The second block isn't from the link you gave and there is no image there with a glans ring as far as I can see. We already established at WP:RD/S that the foreskin can be pulled back. The question is if there are reliable sources for the term "autocircumcision" and the use of the device in the image. Sjö (talk) 07:59, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
The source that mentions the use of this device http://www.medicalj.ru/diseases/mens-health/1030-balanit ( click on 18+ image ) . Translated version https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ru&u=http://www.medicalj.ru/diseases/mens-health/1030-balanit&prev=search ( link to the image doesn’t work )
- Keep No valid reason for deletion from Commons has been presented. English Wikipedia's notions of reliable sources are not relevant here. If the topic has commanded enough interest to have a Yahoo group, it seems potentially worthwhile to host an image here. Hosting an image and endorsing an area of scientific inquiry are entirely different things. -Pete F (talk) 02:41, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
- Comment as an addendum, if the title of the file is highly misleading (and I have no opinion as to whether or not it is), it's possible to change a file name. See COM:Requested moves. But the deletion nomination is not valid, and should be closed, irrespective of any renaming issue. -Pete F (talk) 02:43, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
- No educational value is a valid reason. You might not agree, but then argue for that instead of dismissing the report. Sjö (talk) 20:38, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
- And without the medical claims the images are just seven images of one type of penis ring. There is already a lot of images covering penis rings. Sjö (talk) 06:12, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
