- Palo Duro Canyon State Park — a canyon system with unique sandstone rock formations, located in the Texas Panhandle, near the city of Amarillo, Texas.
- Formed by the Prairie Dog Town Fork of the Red River abruptly dropping over the Caprock Escarpment, descending from the higher Llano Estacado (plain).
- The first European explorers to discover the canyon were members of the Coronado Expedition, who visited the canyon in 1541.
